This is the dramatic moment two heroic beachgoers rescued a boy drowning at sea in Thailand.

The two men battled through powerful waves to save the youngster Wachirawit Udonpas, seen struggling amid the strong currents at the Wachirawit Udonpas beach in Nakhon Si Thammarat on February 21.

However, one of the rescuers, Anothai Homcheun, was swept further from the shore. He was later pulled back to the beach and revived with CPR.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Paisit Nungarlee of the Plai Phraya Police Station was on a day off with his family at the beach when the incident occurred.

He said: 'The man who threw a life preserver toward us was Yongyut Choodecha, a relative who accompanied us to the sea.

'I was not acquainted with the other man wearing a long-sleeved white shirt who joined me in helping the boy.

'I learned he was admitted to the Khanom Hospital after experiencing oxygen deprivation to the brain for several minutes.

'Last I heard, he is stable, but I am unsure if he has been discharged from the hospital.'
