A bungling groom botched his big moment on his wedding day - by climbing inside his bride's veil instead of lifting it over her head.

Footage shows Dhelo amusingly draping the long sheer cloth that covered his wife Vevs onto himself, joining her inside during the Catholic church wedding in Rizal province, the Philippines, on September 16.

But before Dhelo could do the symbolic first kiss to mark the end of the ceremony, the exasperated priest cut him off, saying: ‘No, no, no... oh my god, that's wrong.'

The couple burst into laughter, and Dhelo retreated out of the veil as the priest explained how it should have been done.

He says in the video: 'You have to put it like…. Why did you go under the veil, that's for tonight. He said he thought it was his back, so you will be the bride and she will be the groom.'

The Catholic wedding kiss is a traditional act of love and affection that the bride and groom exchange at the end of their wedding ceremony. The kiss is a symbol of their new union as husband and wife, and it is also a public declaration of their love for each other.
