Residents were baffled by a foam covering a mountain road in the Philippines.

Footage shows the locals stopping to inspect the bubbles flowing from a small waterfall on the cliff's crevice towards the path in Davao Oriental province on April 24.

Onlooker Sherwin Florida said in the video: 'Look at all those bubbles. Maybe it's from the forest fairies taking a bath.'

Environmental officers from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources visited the area to make safety checks.

However, they found out the foam was not a factory leak but was coming from a tree called planchonia spectabilis or commonly known as Lamog or Oyaoy.

Lamog is native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Its moderately hard wood is used for construction, furniture making, and other purposes.
