Kind boy scouts rescued a dog they found stuck in a dirty pond.

The youngsters were taking part in an outdoors school activity when they noticed the crying pooch in Pathum Thani province, Thailand on March 1.

Footage shows the four boys climbing down the fish pen set up by locals to free the dog tangled in the net.

They were careful in case the scared dog was aggressive, patting its head to calm it down.

Proud teacher Apinya Thailao said: ‘The boy scouts asked for permission to pause the activity for a moment and check on the dog.

‘It looked frightened and tired. A villager was trying to help it but it fell into the water again.'

One of the kids tied a yellow scarf around the dog's body to lift it up and another boy was helping the creature by its collar.

Their teacher let the kids help the dog together and said she was proud of the boys.

She said: 'They told me they really wanted to help. I was really touched by their kind gesture.'

The pooch was freed and safe before it ran back to the village away from the pond.
