Locals saved a stray dog stranded by the slippy banks of an empty reservoir.

Elle was at a durian farm when she and friends heard loud barks coming from the dried-up pond in Surat Thani province, Thailand on February 6.

They searched around and found a pooch at the bottom of the slope, struggling to climb up.

Footage shows Elle holding a rope while trying to befriend the dog. She appeared nervous and the pooch was scared so they spent a while calming the creature down before they could take it out of the hole.

She said: ‘We were walking around All About Durian farm when we saw the dog crying for help.

‘I was eager to help the dog but it took some time before I had its trust. My friends were laughing because I was too nervous but we couldn't just leave the dog there.'

After almost half an hour, the group was able to pull the dog from the bottom of the reservoir.

It ran away back into the village after being trapped for almost an hour.

Elle added: ‘We would ask the farm owners to secure the area with enclosures so that the stray animals could not enter again.'
