Fist-sized hailstones pummelled a city in southern China.

Dramatic video filmed in Guangzhou City in Guangdong Province on April 27, shows massive hailstones, some as large as fists, came crashing down.

Numerous witnesses captured the heart-stopping scene on camera as hailstones bombarded the ground like "bombs," shattering outdoor furniture on impact. The roof of Zhu Village Market was pockmarked with countless holes, resembling a sieve.

According to a market staff member, the damage is extensive with goods soaked and shelters destroyed. "It was definitely panic-inducing. I haven't seen hail this size in fifty years," he remarked, unsure if anyone was injured in the chaos.

The Guangzhou Meteorological Observatory issued a series of warnings during the period from around 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., including a yellow warning for heavy rain, a red warning for thunderstorms and strong winds, and an orange warning for hailstorms.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
