Police seized 320kg of ketamine hidden inside life-size Transformer robots in Thailand.

Authorities found that a woman who was previously caught trying to ship 108kg of methamphetamine hidden inside a food processing machine to Australia was now trying to send the Autobot figures to Taiwan.

They inspected the shipment, which was bound to leave by sea on April 24, and found the prohibited drugs concealed on the bases of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Greenlight.

Footage shows the press conference held by the Office of the Narcotics Control Board in Bangkok on April 26, two days after the successful raid. The drugs were confirmed by a medic while the robots were positioned at the sides of the cops.

The board's secretary general, Police Lieutenant General Phanurat Lhakbun, said: 'Currently, we are facing a drug trafficking problem with transnational crime networks hidden in all regions, using Thailand as a base to smuggle drugs to third countries continuously through international shipments via air or sea.'

Australian authorities intercepted the first batch of prohibited drugs sent by the unidentified woman on March 12, and the board has been monitoring her activities since.

Authorities said she paid 180,000 baht (3,878 GBP) to the shipping company and was arrested on April 25. However, she told them ‘she received instructions from a woman from Laos to transport the goods'.

The narcotics board added the drugs were bound for the lucrative markets in the much more developed neighbouring countries of Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. They were to travel through private ports, especially in the eastern provinces of Chanthaburi, Rayong, Trat, and Chachoengsao.

General Phanurat added: 'The ONCB has cooperation projects with the Airport Interdiction Task Force to suppress and intercept drugs in airports and the Seaport Interdiction Task Force for intercepting drug imports to the inner part of the country and exports to third countries.'

He said the board had intercepted more than four tonnes of crystal meth, two tonnes of ketamine, and 265kg of heroin.
