This is the heartwarming moment a couple rescued a puppy drowning in a pond filled with water lilies.

Wife Chadaphon was walking home with her husband Kumpol when they heard whimpering sounds from under the bridge in Nakhon Pathom province, Thailand on April 13.

The pair checked what it was and spotted a pooch struggling to stay afloat amid a sea of plants before helping it.

Footage shows the husband using a branch to reach the creature. When the dog swam nearby, Kumpol climbed down the bridge and scooped up the animal.

Chadaphon said: ‘We just returned from the temple to pray. We heard the crying dog and searched for it.'

While helping the puppy, two more pooches - believed to be its siblings - waited on the bridge.

The wife added: ‘We think they were families. They all looked like each other. We have taken all the dogs home and adopted them.'
