Shame on you! Close pass of cyclist then ran into the cyclist when he stopped, No injury or damage. Driver didn't stop. Reported, twice. No further action
I was passed very closely by the driver of a silver Mercedes. The vehicle was about an arm length from me, approximately 75cm. I could have probably touched the vehicle if I had put my arm out. There was a lot of road space on the right side of the vehicle that the driver could have used to keep further distance from me. A little further up the road the driver had stopped due to traffic. I wanted to discuss the incident with the driver to let him know he was too close when passing and to ask to leave more space in future. He did not wind down the window to talk about it. When the lights changed he drove off. Further up the road there is roadworks and the right lane is closed. I was in the left lane, the Mercedes was in the right lane. I had overtaken the Mercedes and was wagging my finger and showing thumbs down to indicate I was unhappy their bad driving. The driver then accelerated and drove up extremely close behind me. We were then going slower due to traffic in front. He crossed the lane marking into the left lane where I was. I had stopped as I was uncomfortable with how close he was to me and the vehicle in front was stopping. He then drove into my bicycle hitting the right hand pedal. I had to lift my leg so it did not get hit. I then informed him that he has collided with me and needs to stop and give me his insurance information. He did not stop. He continued to drive away. The police did not follow up as a collision and the timing was too late for the second submission for bad driving to be followed up.
