Blaze in ex-police station in Streatham leads to officers discovering cannabis farm

A fire in a former police station in Streatham has led to police officers discovering "a number of cannabis plants".

On Tuesday, 20 December smoke was seen pouring from the old police station on the corner of Streatham High Road at the junction with Shrubbery Road.

Concerned onlookers called emergency services and London Fire Brigade attended the scene.

The Met Police said once the Fire Brigade were inside the building "a number of cannabis plants were discovered."

Two days later a crime scene remains in place while the incident is investigated by detectives from the Met.

A Met Police spokesperson said: Officers were called at 16:52hrs on Tuesday, 20 December to Streatham High Road at the junction with Shrubbery Road to reports of a fire at the old police station.

London Fire Brigade attended and dealt with the fire.

There were no reported injuries.

Once inside the building a number of cannabis plants were discovered.

A crime scene remains in place and the incident is being investigated by detectives from Central South CID.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
