Footage of one of three of Blackpool's famous tower blocks being demolished on Sunday to make way for 100 new homes.

The video shows the flats being brought down in a large explosion, while a crowd of people watches.

According to local reports, the blocks were unpopular as they had brought an unwanted stigma to the neighbourhood.

Around 100 news homes will be built on the land by 2018, part of a wider effort to trasform the estate.

My video was shot by myself on the morning of Sunday July 31st, where I witnessed along with my parents and what seemed to be spectators from around the country the demolition of Blackpools 3 Famous high rise flats. When I heard the news of the plans to do this I knew I had to be there.
I am now 32 years of age, I grew up on the street just across the road from the Layton flats and had years of fun playing in the grounds of the now demolished estate, also more times I can remember a telling off by the security guards for playing ball games, my first friend I ever had also lived in one of Laytons most populated communities so even from the age of 5 I have memories running up and down the corridors causing mayhem.
When stood waiting for the siren and big bang I did feel like it was the end of an era, from hearing the siren and the last block fall it was around 20-30 seconds,. This was an amazing experience to watch and I'm thrilled to catch it all on video, no one can ever described the true feeling of an event like this especially how the dust cloud appeared making you blind to what was left and the way it gradually lifted, every spectator was cover In dust along with my self, my phone and 3-4 streets away.
