This is the heartwarming moment a Saudi Arabian man was reunited with his Thai nanny after 20 years apart.

Ali Bokhari, 33, visited his former caregiver Banyen Thongchaithanawayu, 77, at her home in Nakhon Ratchasima province on May 1, hoping to show his gratitude for raising him when he was just a toddler.

Tear-jerking footage shows Ali choking up as he hugged the aging Banyen, who can be heard sobbing during the emotional moment.

Banyen said: 'I cared for Ali and his siblings since 1992 while I working as a housekeeper in Saudi Arabia.

'However, when I received news of my son's severe accident requiring surgery, I had to return to Thailand when Ali was just 14.

'His father provided me with a phone and his contact number, but upon returning to Thailand, I never went back to Saudi Arabia.

'I kept the same number that I received 30 years ago, but I never expected Ali to come looking for me in Thailand.'

Banyen said she received a call from a hotel in Pattaya, from the same number Ali's father had bought for her.

Upon learning Banyen's address, Ali then rented a car to drive to her home in the Soeng Sang in the remote northeast.

As they caught up on each others' lives, Banyen prepared dishes she used to feed her now-adult charge.

Ali said it was his first time in Thailand, adding he was determined to find Banyen to show his gratitude for her kindness.

Speaking in the video, he said: 'I came to Thailand to find my mum. She raised me from when I was born, from my first day here on Earth, in Saudi Arabia. I found her through the hotel. The hotel manager helped me find mum and I'm here, I found her.

'When I first met Banyen, I felt very emotional. It was a really big day. I was crying so much and I was so happy to find her.'

Ali bought his former nanny an electric tricycle after noticing her difficulty walking.

He also arranged for transportation to bring Banyen to the city centre and covered her medical expenses to see the doctor.

Before flying back to Saudi Arabia, Ali promised to visit Banyen every year.

The emotional pensioner said: 'I never imagined that Ali would still remember me, even after living in another country for decades and being of different nationalities.

'I was truly happy and touched that he made the effort to find me to repay for what I did for him.'
