This is the amusing moment a pet dog cooled off in a tub of water as temperatures soared.

Onpailin Poomsiriroj left the basin full of water for her four-month-old Labrador named Rossi because she was concerned her dog might get heatstroke in Nonthaburi, Thailand, on April 30.

CCTV footage shows the canine dipping itself in the tub and laying there to chill out.

Onpailin said: 'I am afraid he might get sick, which is why I ensured the basin was full before leaving.'

The city reached 38 degrees Celsius, prompting the animal to take a break in the water.

Extreme heat can make dogs sick, especially those with double fur coats, as they are prone to heatstroke.

Officials at the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) said that dozens of regions across the country have seen record temperatures in April, with new highs beating records held as far back as 1958.

Across Southeast Asia, soaring temperatures have lead to a strain on national grids as locals turn on the electricity for air conditioning.

The country's weather bureau warned people to stay indoors, with temperatures this week topping 40 degrees Celsius.

In addition to the demand for water and electricity, locals have been buying sunscream.
