African elephants caught in fierce brawl at Shanghai Wildlife Park
African elephants were caught in a fierce brawl at Shanghai Wildlife Park on April 27.
The video shows an elephant being repeatedly pushed by its peers, eventually kneeling at the edge of the enclosure before standing up to fight back.
Zoo staff have reassured the public, explaining that such skirmishes are a normal occurrence among male African elephants, especially during their growth phase as they vie for territory. This behaviour is part of their natural instincts and is not influenced by the presence of visitors.
After the altercation, the elephants were taken back to their shelters where they were examined by zoo personnel.
Authorities have confirmed that all elephants in the group are in good health and the incident poses no cause for concern among visitors.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
