Heroic passersby saved a 6-month-old baby crawling on a busy road in rainy night in eastern China.

The CCTV footage was filmed in Wuxi City in Jiangsu Province on March 27.

A baby boy embarked on a perilous journey across a road, alone and unattended. The child, dressed in thin clothes and battling the cold, was spotted by two passersby who acted swiftly to avert tragedy.

A motorist named Wu Zhongming, driving home, narrowly missed the infant crawling in the rain-soaked street. Shocked, Wu stopped his car and rushed to rescue the baby, finding him drenched, muddy, and crying. Wu cradled the baby and started searching for help.

Xu Juan, another local, joined the effort upon seeing Wu with the baby. The infant, cold and coughing, was wrapped in Wu's jacket for warmth. They decided to call the police.

Responding promptly, officers from Jiangyin's Dongcheng Police Station, led by Sun Rong, arrived at the scene. Believing the infant's home was nearby, they scoured the area. Their search led them to a residence with a partially open door and baby clothes hanging outside, identifying it as the baby's home. The child's mother, who had stepped out for a short errand, was shocked to learn of her baby's adventure.

Thanks to the quick thinking and compassion of Wu Zhongming and Xu Juan, the baby was safely returned to his mother, avoiding a potential disaster.

In recognition of their bravery and selflessness, the Jiangyin Foundation for the Brave awarded Wu and Xu on April 1 and 2, respectively, honouring their actions with financial rewards.
