Heartwarming footage has emerged of a young, baby elephant being rescued from drowning by two people in South Africa.

The awesome video, filmed at Kruger National Park on February 16, shows the distressed animal stuck in a drainage well, on the verge of drowning because it was so worn out.

Fortunately, two men came to the rescue, lifting the heavy creature out of trouble.

According to the filmer, an animal rescue centre was "informed of the situation and the elephant got a new home."

Kruger National Park, South Africa. Baby elephant rescued from drowning in a drain at a copper mine in Phalaborwa bordering Kruger Park. Mr. Jaco Swart - Hero of the day !
Jaco was busy doing his weekly rounds in a remote section of the mine when he came upon this sighting.
He immediately tried to rescue the elephant by lifting it out. Unfortunately the baby elephant was to heavy.
Frantically Mr Swart phoned his friend Johan Bezuidenhout who is part of the mine rescue team(Proto Team) which in turn brought along a colleage Mr. Quinton Pretorius. While waiting for them to arrive, Jaco consoled the elephant and then decided to film the drama.
Jaco held the 2 mens' radios and filmed them lifting out the baby elephant from the drain.At last the elephant was out although extremely tired. an Animal Rescue centre was informed of the situation and the orphan elephant got a new home.
