Egg-sized hailstones smashed cars in Yiwu City in eastern China's Zhejiang Province on March 25.

Massive hailstones pelted down, causing significant damage to vehicles on the roads. Windshields of many cars were shattered, and the bodies were pockmarked with dense dents.

According to reports, as of 21:50 on March 25, the Yiwu branch of People's Insurance Company of China had received 9,022 claims for vehicle insurance due to hail damage, 12 claims for enterprise property insurance, and 100 claims for household property insurance and rural property insurance. It is estimated that the insurance industry's payout for this hailstorm disaster in Yiwu will exceed 100 million yuan (£11,000,000).

Local meteorological authorities explained that the temperatures in central and southern Zhejiang Province hovered around 30 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, unusually warm for this time of year. With ample atmospheric energy, severe convective weather was intensified, resulting in the violent hailstorm.
