Pirate monkey boards tourist boat to steal food
A pirate monkey boarded a tourist boat to steal food.
Footage shows a macaque swimming along the river but was distracted by food thrown onto the water which it chased instead in Samut Songkhram, Thailand, on October 3.
However, its friend successfully climbed onto the wooden vessel and took fruit from a bucket.
It made sure the container was empty and grabbed everything it can before fleeing to a branch of a mangrove tree overhead.
Tourist Chawaphon Nakit Boriboon said: 'We took a boat to the Samut Songkhram Mangrove Forest Conservation Centre and along the way, the local monkeys invaded us. It robbed us of the fruit and seeds we were going to plant.'
Monkeys in Thailand have become accustomed to tourists feeding them, and they often become aggressive. They have also been known to steal food and belongings from tourists.
