A kid set fire to a pile of sugar cane stalks on the back of a truck, causing chaos outside a factory.

The child was playing under the lorry before the dried leaves ignited as he pulled away in Kanchanaburi province, Thailand, on February 12.

He fled the scene, but the blaze had engulfed most of the stalks when a worker on the front of the vehicle discovered it.

The other workers rushed to control the flames, which were fanned by strong winds before the other drivers used a claw excavator to remove the sugar canes from the vehicle.

Factory owner Suphachai Siahgchin said: ‘We later found out that the boy had been playing with a lighter when he ignited the sugar cane on the truck.

‘We had to rush as it was much more dangerous if the truck caught fire.'

The workers spent an hour removing the sugar canes from the back of the lorry.

No one was hurt by the fire, but the sugar cane harvest was destroyed, as well as parts of the truck.
