On January 3, 2024, chaos ensued as officers responded to a shoplifting incident at Snipes (#684 Foxon Road). The suspects and their getaway vehicle were swiftly identified and broadcasted to responding units. Detectives Jon Trinh and Fred Sego, patrolling the area, located the suspect vehicle on Bradley Street near Bellman Street.

Sergeant John Finnimore, along with Officers Dean Bibens and Anthony Fiorillo, attempted a motor vehicle stop. The operator, identified as Nelson Vidro of Torrington, CT, aggressively reversed, colliding with Sergeant Finnimore's cruiser. Despite attempts to box him in, Vidro rammed cruisers in a desperate bid to escape.

With assistance from Detectives Sego and Trinh, both Vidro and his passenger, Nadine Inorio of West Haven, CT, were apprehended. Vidro faces a multitude of charges, including assault on police and reckless endangerment. At the time of arrest, he had eighteen outstanding warrants, leading to a $100,000 bond. Inorio, charged with larceny and interfering with an officer, was held on a $2500 surety bond. Both appeared in court on 01/04/2024 at G.A. 23, 121 Elm Street, New Haven, CT.
