China's “Arctic Village” glowed with northern lights magic for the second time in just one month.

The incredible video was filmed in Mohe City in Heilongjiang Province on December 1. The spectacular auroras, visible to the naked eye, displayed vibrant red and green hues, dancing in the northern night sky over the frozen Heilongjiang River.

Visitors from across the country gathered along the icy banks, documenting the celestial display with their phones or live-streaming, collectively witnessing a fortunate moment in the winter night of Mohe Arctic Village.

"Incredibly lucky and excited! We sprinted all the way here – wanted to see ice and snow, reindeer, but ended up witnessing the auroras! It's worth a lifetime!" shared Li Ke, a tourist from Shanghai.

Auroras occur when charged particles from the sun enter Earth's magnetic field, colliding with atoms and molecules in the atmosphere, producing a luminous spectacle. Typically seen near the Earth's polar regions during high geomagnetic activity, auroras, including the rare red and green ones, graced the skies of Mohe, a prime location for observing the Northern Lights in China.

According to China Meteorological Administration's Space Weather Center, on December 1st and 2nd, the country might experience geomagnetic storm activity, with the potential for moderate to severe disturbances. It is anticipated that magnetic activity will persist until December 2nd. Multiple regions in China captured aurora displays on the night of December 1st, with Mohe once again witnessing red and green auroras – a rare occurrence for the second time in a month.

Situated in the northernmost part of China, Mohe is the nation's northernmost and highest latitude city, making it one of the best places for observing the Northern Lights domestically.

Throughout the year, numerous photography enthusiasts flock to Mohe to chase the auroras. This year, Mohe has already experienced multiple occurrences of the Northern Lights.
