A quick-thinking boy shielded his grandmother from an escalator fall in eastern China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Jinhua in Zhejiang Province on November 7, shows an elderly woman suddenly taking a tumble on an escalator at a train station and her grandson instinctively shielding her with his petite frame, preventing her from rolling down the moving escalator.

After a police officer named Jin Junxi from the Jinhua Municipal Public Security Bureau's Rail Division spotted the distressed scene, he sprinted towards the escalator and swiftly activated the emergency stop button.

The situation drew the attention of other kind-hearted passengers, who rallied together to assist the elderly woman. With their collective efforts, they carefully helped her to a seat on the platform.

Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the boy had boarded the escalator first, prompting his grandmother to hurriedly step onto it out of concern for his well-being. Unfortunately, in her haste, she lost her balance and tripped, narrowly avoiding a more serious accident thanks to the quick response of the boy and the intervention of the concerned commuters.

Thankfully, due to the timely stoppage of the escalator and the prompt assistance provided, the elderly woman sustained only minor injuries.

After a brief rest, the elderly woman and her heroic grandson continued their journey.
