Bungling motorist drives away with pump attached causing huge fire
A bungling motorist tried to drive away while their vehicle was refueling but ended up ripping the gas pump off the ground and causing a massive fire.
The dramatic incident reportedly took place at a petrol station in Xiangtan, in Hunan Province, China, at around 6:50 pm on September 1.
CCTV footage shows a white sedan suddenly leaving the line of vehicles that are refueling, apparently without its driver having noticed that the refueling nozzle is still attached to the car.
As the vehicle takes off, it yanks on the nozzle and pulls the entire gas pump along, ripping it off the ground and causing fuel to spill out.
Seconds later, as several electrical cables torn alongside the pump begin letting out sparks, a huge fire ignites.
Panicked onlookers and station staff begin running to grab fire extinguishers and aim them at the fire. Within
30 seconds, they manage to extinguish the flames before anyone gets injured.
