Tense moment police stand-off with knife-wielding man in Tokyo
A man brandishing a knife was arrested by police in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district in the early hours of Thursday (August 24).
The man in his forties pointed a 15-cm kitchen knife at a female police officer at a police station near the East exit of Ikebukuro station.
Police then rushed to apprehend and arrest him. Footage shows officers wielding batons facing-off against the knifeman.
He will be charged on suspicion of obstructing official duties and violating the firearms and swords law.
