It was extremely fortunate that this passing hiker was able to answer the calls for help, as a one-armed woman was trying to rescue her mother who had fallen off the trail and was hanging on in a very dangerous position.

Taylor Root was hiking in the Columbia River Gorge in Portland, Oregon, on June 14, when he heard desperate shouts for help.

The hiker leapt into action and ran towards the call and found a one-armed woman struggling to hold her mother by the foot as she was hanging over a cliff that went down approximately 100 feet, according to Taylor.

Taylor was able to get down and grab the arm of the mother and hoist her up.
