Coconut-picking monkeys ride motorcycles with farmers on way to work in Thailand

Coconut-picking monkeys rode on the back of motorcycles with farmers as they travelled to work in Thailand.

Footage shows a primate worker riding pillion with a young lad in Prachuap Khiri Khan province on May 12.

A second and third motorbike rider had two more monkeys on the back while they wer riding along the road.

The tourist who saw the riders with the monkeys said: ‘The three motorbikes carried unusual passengers. They were coconut-picking monkeys on their way to work.'

Coconut-picking monkeys are typically macaques, which small agile species native to Southeast Asia. They are trained and used by farmers in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and other countries in the region to harvest coconuts.
