Locals took selfies on an elusive river sandbar that only appears during low tide in Thailand.

The piece of land, formed from sand and mud deposited by shifting tidal currents, can be found in a section of the Chao Phraya River running through Pathum Thani province 24 miles north of Bangkok.

It typically emerges from April to May, when the river level is low and no water is being released from dams in the country's northern regions.

Residents took advantage of the rare sight and posed for photos while walking over the sandbar before it disappears during the monsoon rainy season.

The Instagrammable spot is located opposite Wat Thua Thong temple in the Sam Khok district. It is recommended to visit during the golden hour between 4 to 6 pm.

Visitors can reach the sandbar by taking a boat from the temple's pier, with a fare of 50 baht per person.
