A trapped kitten covered in glue from wooden rafters was rescued and cleaned up.

The scared feline was heard crying from a family's bedroom ceiling in Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand on March 30.

Resident Damrongkiat Kerdplian said she couldn't sleep thinking the creature might be hurt, so she climbed up to search for it.

Footage shows the mother-of-one stepping on the dresser to reach up the rafter. She then flashed a torch on the cramped space and immediately found the exhausted moggy smothered in a sticky substance on March 31.

Damrongkiat said: ‘The kitten might have been caught in a mouse trap and escaped. But it couldn't remove the glue and hid in our ceiling.'

She brought the kitten down to her home, rubbed vegetable oil, and showered it with pet shampoo to relieve the creature of the glue.

Damrongkiat added it took her several washes before the kitten's natural ginger colour emerged.

She said: ‘I am so happy with our new pet. She will stay here with us from now on.'
