An affectionate uncle carried his niece across a flooded street for her wedding in Malaysia.

The relative was helping out in the family event that was interrupted by heavy rains in Pahang on March 4.

When the bride Syasya Sazwina was ready, the man lifted her to keep her white gown clean amid the bad weather.

Footage shows the uncle taking Syasya to the tent in front of their home where the ceremony was held. Another relative assisted them with an umbrella.

The bride's friend Lysa Almazan said: 'At that moment, I really wanted to cry. It was such a special event for us because Syasya was getting married but her father was not there.'

Lysa added that the bride's father passed away last year so the uncle stood in his place.

She said: ‘He is the older brother of Syasya's dad. She's sad because her father was not there on her special day but her uncle made it better for her.'
