A knife-wielding man has injured several people at Paris' Gare du Nord train station on Wednesday morning (January 11).

Footage from the scene shows armed police patrolling the station as well as commuters being evacuated from the premises.

A man was arrested after police opened fire and wounded the suspect.

Gérald Darmanin, French interior minister, tweeted: "An individual injured several people this morning at the Gare du Nord. He was quickly neutralized. Thank you to the police for their effective and courageous response."
