A 4-foot-long cobra was removed from a police station in Bargarh, Odisha, after it was found in a refrigerator.

The serpent was spotted as a police officer went to get a water bottle from the fridge. Snake Helpline was immediately called.

A volunteer, Raman Bag, went to the station and found the cobra hiding near the compressor of the refrigerator. He gently pulled out the snake with a snake hook and released it into the wild.

Subhendu Mallik, General Secretary of Snake Helpline, said: "People in areas where snakes are common should know that the empty space around the compressor gives ample space for them to hide."
