Subtropical Storm Nicole Creating Beach Erosion Well in Advance of its Forecast Arrival in South Florida
Tropical Storm Nicole is causing beach erosion in Palm Beach County, Florida, well in advance of the storms forecast Wednesday arrival in South Florida. Waves generated by Nicole have washed away sand creating a steep cliff between beach and water's edge. Another factor contributing to the erosion is king tide season, when the position of the sun and moon in the fall create extra strong gravitation pull on the ocean leading to higher than normal tides. Nicole's 25 mile an hour winds out of the north are also blowing sand down the beach.
