This is the heartwarming moment a loving parrot owner jumped into the water to rescue her drowning bird.

Video shows the parrot named Tooday being released to stretch its wings next to a reservoir in Bangkok, Thailand on May 8.

However, while the Macaw was returning to its master, he misjudged the landing and plunged straight into the cold water. He was seen flapping around helplessly while squawking.

Tooday's protective owner Khun Ae jumped into the pool and swam straight over to her beloved pet bird. Tooday was brought to dry and land and was not hurt.

Khun Ae said: 'I think that Tooday mistook the water's surface for the hard ground. He was confused by the reflection on the surface and thought it was somewhere for him to land on.

'The water was much deeper than I thought, and Tooday would not have been able to get out by himself.

'I was drenched and had to shower after at the toilets but I would do the same again. When I saw that Tooday was in danger I ran straight into the water to help him.'

Onlooker Sutipsinee Limsaranrom said: 'I had a feeling that something was going to happen. I was amazed at how my friend jumped down so fast to help her bird.

'This pond was very salty, so that might have affected the bird if he swallowed the water. Thankfully he is fine now.'
