A wild elephant broke into a farm building in southwestern China recently and killed a cow.

Distressing footage filmed in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province on April 17 shows a male elephant walking into a cowshed and attacking the cattle.

The elephant was seen walking out of the shed and coming back again to attack the animals several times.

Since the cattle were tied to rails by the ropes, they could not run away or defend themselves.

The elephant trampled one cow to death and the others were also injured.

Local authorities said they were taking measures to prevent the incident from happening again.

The government also compensated the owner of the cattle.

近日，云南西双版纳。勐腊县一村庄内，一头野象闯进牛舍攻击牛群，一头牛因此死亡。
从监控里看到，公象从容地走进了牛舍，直接就用长长的象牙顶撞到牛身上。牛突然遭到攻击，又痛又急，本能地想逃跑，但被绳子拴住了，只能在原地干着急。
公象转过身去，用后腿对着另一头牛又踢又踩，甚至还用庞大的身躯去碾压牛。可怜的牛，只能无助地躲避，却根本逃不过公象的攻击。
对公象来说，牛舍的空间太小了，根本施展不开，它走了出去之后，然后又走进来，再次用长鼻子与象牙去攻击几头牛。
当公象再次用身体碾压牛的时候，一头牛从公象两条粗壮的后肢间钻了出来，躲过碾压。足见公象的体型比这头牛大了一倍不止。
在公象的轮番攻击下，其中一头牛倒地不起，尽管如此，仍然遭到公象用脚踩踏，之后还被公象直接坐到身上，奄奄一息。
公象反复几次攻击牛，之后离去。可怜的几头牛，都有受伤，其中一头不幸死亡。

4月21日，勐腊县宣传部工作人员表示，目前是野象的活动比较频繁的时间段，相关部门也采取了措施，野生动物造成的损失会及时理赔，视频中大象踩到的牛，政府也已做出了理赔。另据勐伴镇一名林业工作者介绍，野象群共有40多头，出现攻击行为系因到了发情期。（视频由云南台提供）
