Japan: Typhoon In-Fa Lashes Okinawa With Heavy Rains, Gusty Winds
Heavy rains and gusty winds blasted Japan's southernmost region of Okinawa as Typhoon In-fa barreled through the islands Thursday, July 22. The northern main island of Naha, far from the eye of the storm, also saw heavy rains attributed to the outer bands of the typhoon.
The slow-moving typhoon was located 150 km south-southeast of Miyakojima as of 4:00 pm. It is expected to strengthen further and pass over the Miyako and Ishigaki islands tomorrow.
