Mesmerising circle of ice spotted spinning on Chinese river
A circle of ice was spotted spinning on a river in northern China.
The incredible drone, shot in Daxing'anling Prefecture in Heilongjiang Province on March 3, shows a 2-metre-diametre ice disc spinning clockwise on Gan River.
The spinning ice disc is a rare natural phenomenon. There are two possible causes of the phenomenon, one is the water vortex rolling the crushed ice together, forming the ice circle.
The other possibility is a big chunk of ice on the frozen river collided with the shore, wearing off its edges and forming a disc.
