Kayakers took advantage after the River Trent near Nottingham, UK, burst its banks and left a nearby park submerged.

West Park in Long Eaton was transformed into a lake as flood defences fed excess water from surrounding canals into the park.

Footage from January 15 shows a couple of kayakers taking advantage of the fast-flowing water.

The river Trent in Derbyshire burst its banks today at Trent Lock in Sawley as a number of flood warnings were issued in the area. Flooding came to the county after heavy rainfall and snow fell on Derbyshire in the days before.

Kayakers were seen taking advantage of the fast flowing river conditions as they entered the flood water at Trent Lock.

West Park in Long Eaton Derbyshire became a lake as the towns flood defences fed excess water from surrounding canals, brooks and rivers into the park as heavy rain and snow hit the area causing rivers to burst their banks and a number of flood warnings to be issued by the environmental agency.

People were seen braving the flood as they rode their bikes through it. Whilst some decided to not risk it and went another way around the park.
