A silverback gorilla at Twycross Zoo, UK showed his son who's the boss during an interaction after he became annoyed.
The clip, filmed on February 1, shows the moment Shufai the baby gorilla was annoying his dad Oumbi, before the silverback chases the baby and pins him down.
Oumbi's grandmother then comes to the rescue and in the footage, you can see him on her back for protection.
"When I spoke to a keeper, she said it was nothing to worry about. It is just part of learning for Shufai, as he's being annoying his dad all morning and he just put his son in his place," the filmer told Newsflare.
Gorilla Shufai the youngest member of the Twycross Zoo gorilla family was just playing, when Oumbi his silverback dad suddenly comes charging towards him and pins him down. When I spoke to a keeper, she said it was nothing to worry about. It is just part of learning for Shufai, as he's being annoying his dad all morning and he just put his son in his place. For me, it was great to see brave Biddy how she reacted in Ozala's absence. We tend to compare the situation to ourselves too much and what seems rough to us, is a normal Silverbacks duty. He's there to keep his family in check, in zoos and in the wild.
I know Ozala was outside and didn't see what happened. Luckily Biddy was there to save the day. She charged at Oumbi straight away, which made Oumbi loosen the grip, but when he runs, he was holding on to Shufai's arm and slung him Shufai managed to land on both his feet and joined Biddy his gran in the chase after Oumbi. In all of the chaos, you might have missed Lope the oldest son sitting on the log. He did quickly move away. Shufai, by then runs outside to mum. Biddy seemed to check through the window that he was ok. Lope run outside as well. I followed. Shufai was on Ozala's back safe and sound, probably just a bit shook up. Back inside, Shufai stayed close to mum, while Oumbi was tucking into the tree bark as nothing had happened. Shufai seemed to be doing fine later, when Lope came over with the wood wool in his mouth looking all silly, Shufai couldn't resist playing with him and chasing after his big brother.
The gorilla current family at Twycross consists of 6 members, which are Oumbi, Ozala, Biddy, Asante, Lope and Shufai
Oumbi ( 30 June 1992) Sons : Okanda 17 Apr 2011 born at Twycross Zoo, Hand raised now at München Hellabrunn Germany)
Lope ( 3rd Jan 2013) and Shufai (24th Sep 2016) both born at Twycross Zoo in England and they are still at the Zoo.
Ozala (19 Mar 1994) , she had three sons and one daughter. Ozala's first mate was Ti . Ozala and Ti had Matadi on the 25th of May 2003 at Twycross Zoo. Then they had their daughter Ndoki on the 3rd of May 2007, but she sadly died on the 29th Aug 2007, unknown cause.

Ti died in 26 Feb 2007, the cause of it was a stroke. Oumbi got moved to Twycross Zoo in 2009 to mate with the females. Ozala was Oumbi chosen mate.
Asante (6th Jun 1985) is Ozalas half-sister. She hasn’t got any offspring.
Biddy is Ozalas Mum as she was born in the wild during 1973, there is no record of siblings or parents. Her offspring are Mambie and Ozala.
