I personally filmed this video my name is Karen Willgress I am 40 from Hartlepool. The video was filmed at 59 Hutton avenue in Hartlepool on (Hope house care home ) on 30/03/2020
The video was filmed as I am the chairperson for a local chairty called miles for men and we have been visiting care homes with our carpark karaoke in order to bring some joy to those who are most vulnerable, ( we received a message from a young mans mother who lives in Hope house asking if we could take the carpark Karaoke to him as they wont be able to see him for 3 month due to COVID 19 and they miss him so much.
I was overwhelmed with happiness as well as sadness as this guy in the video doesn’t truly understand why he cant visit his family or carry out his normal activities
The reaction was amazing the live video reached 10,239 people had 47 shares and 160 comments as well as 204 likes ( the family said they cried watching the video and said it was amazing seeing his face.
Happening in the video is Brian a local guy from Hartlepool along with myself Karen on behalf of miles for men Hartlepool went along to hope house to brighten the day of one of their residents a young man called Chris who is unable to see his family for possibly the next 3 months, Chris who has autism and lives in supported living loves barbie girl, Amarillo and ghost busters, every where he goes i.e discos jump 360 he asks them to play these 3 songs. So when we received a message from his mam asking if we could take our carpark Karaoke to him to help brighten not only his day but the staff and other residents who reside there.
Miles for men walk for women are a local charity based in Hartlepool who have teamed up with Absolute discos to bring carpark karaoke to those who are vulnerable in our local area, however on this day the guy generally does the karaoke was unable to attend and as we had promised this service to this young man’s family we didn’t want to let him down, so myself and Brian went along in separate vehicle’s, then using Bluetooth we turned the speakers up on the car to as aloud as they would go opening the car doors whilst brain sang along to the songs, not how we had planned it! However the young guy really enjoyed it.
This was also made even more special by the fact that I am an ex employee for Cygnet care, I supported the young guy for 3 years, I've been left the company for almost a year now and have not seen this young man.
