A British team won a 24-hour lawnmower race in Champagne-Ardenne in France on Sunday.

Drivers with their backup teams from Luxemburg, Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom and France had to complete as many laps of the circuit within the 24-hour time frame. The race started at 4.00pm on Saturday 31st March.

Weather conditions were good at the start but as dawn arrived the rain came and made racing very challenging.

The British-led team (Best Western) took an early lead and dominated for most of the race. They crossed the finishing line 42 laps ahead of the next team.

The very British sport of Lawnmower racing has gained popularity World-wide with many countries such as America and Australia adopting the sport with their own racing associations.

Now the cheap motor sport has now gained popularity in France. So much so, that every year in early spring, they run their own 24-hour Grand Prix.

Champagne –Ardenne in the North-East of France was the venue for this year’s race.
