Stormy Hong Kong ferry ride during Severe Tropical Storm Pabuk

Buy video

Pabuk had passed Hong Kong on 9 Augusy 2007, but the next day it returned, came towards the territory, leading to Number 8 storm signal [which pretty much shuts down the city, as imminent gales could be followed by storm force or hurricane force winds]
Shot from a ferry from Cheung Chau to Hong Kong Island.
Video shot from back of ferry, around 2.14pm; info online shows Number 8 signal [gales, w chance of stronger winds] went up at 2.30pm, so would be last ferry from Cheung Chau to HK Island.
Arrived HK Island, and harbour there about like a millpond; but ferry pier closing, and no more ferries for a few hours. TV reporter[s] there; footage must have looked dull, but I’d been on that rolling ferry in rough seas - such a contrast!
I was going to meet my wife and son - they were on HK Island rather than home as he was in hospital w minor issue, at 2yrs old.

Took a few hours before could return home.
